How to import your Steam library
There is no file to download here: JoyHob asks Steam for your library using your identifier, and brings over the hours you actually played, as counted by the store itself. It is the only figure in the whole import that is not an estimate.
First: your profile privacy
Steam ships with Game details set to private, and with that closed nobody — JoyHob included — can see your library. It is the single most common thing to trip over. Set it to Public in your profile privacy settings; you can close it again once the import is done.
Three steps
- Open your game detailsIn your Steam profile privacy settings, set Game details to Public. Without it the import sees nothing.
- Copy your identifierEither your custom URL name or your SteamID64 works. JoyHob translates the first into the second for you.
- Import itIn JoyHob, Import content, pick Steam and paste your identifier. You review every match before anything is saved.
What comes across
- Your games, matched by their Steam id rather than by name: the same appid the store uses is in the game catalogue, so the right entry comes back without guessing.
- The hours played on each one, exactly as Steam counted them.
- Free-to-play titles too: if you have 900 hours in a free game, that is what you have played most and it belongs in there.
What does not land in your collection, and why
- A game with zero hours goes to Bookmarks, not your collection. A Steam library is full of bundles, gifts and sale purchases that were never opened: owning them is not playing them.
- Anything that is not a game is skipped. SDKs, dedicated servers, benchmarks, betas, demos and soundtracks have no entry in any game catalogue, so they would all land in the review screen for you to dismiss one by one.
- Steam does not return a release year here, so anything not matched by id is searched by name and only accepted on an exact title match. The rest goes to review.
- Achievements and ratings do not come across: Steam does not rate games.
What is kept from this lookup
Your game list is never cached anywhere shared: it is fetched for your import and that is it. The only thing stored is the translation from your custom URL name to your numeric id, which is public and does not change.
While you are here
Steam is PC only. If you also play on console, Exophase is the route for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and several more stores — and it is the only one there is. Your films, shows and books fit in the same library.
